About the Mini Border-Aussie
The Border-Aussie is a hybrid dog that is made up of a combination of two different purebreeds. It's a cross between the Australian Shepherd and the Border Collie. We've found the best method for understanding the characteristics of the Border-Aussie is to read both of its ancestors descriptions taking note of their temperaments, size and general look.
Do Mini Aussies make good family dogs?
Yes. Mini Aussies become incredibly faithful to their people and are usually very affectionate dogs. They love, and need to be involved in, family activities. They are affectionately nicknamed the "Velcro" dog as they just love being with people. These dogs are generally tender with children, good with other pets, and easily trained. Because of its strong herding background, mini Aussies often do best in active families who are willing to spend time providing obedience training, exercise and will permit the dog to be part of the family.
Because Mini Aussies tend to be extremely loyal to their families, not all should be expected to be outgoing toward strangers. Early socialization is very important for the proper development of a Australian Border Collie puppy.

General Description
The Border-Aussie has the build of a Border Collie or Australian Shepherd. The coat is medium to long in length and can have the colors of either of its ancestors, but usually comes in black and white with sides of the face and legs often brown. Most will have white paws. The ears are floppy during puppyhood but become semi-erect nearing adulthood. The eyes are green, brown, blue or mixed. The coat can be long and straight or curly like that of the Australian Shepherd.

The Border-Aussie is a friendly, outgoing breed. It is intelligent and easily trainable. It is an excellent choice for owners with children. The Border-Aussie is a high energy breed and will require plenty of daily exercise. Great for agility, frisbee, running partner, or house pet as long as exercised daily. Natural farm workers.
